There’s a quiet pressure many of us carry the feeling that we always have to be doing more, pushing harder, proving we’re useful.
So, when we slow down, when we choose rest, ease, or simplicity…
a little voice inside can whisper,
“You’re being lazy.”
But here’s the truth: Lightness is not laziness.
Letting go of stress, rushing, or constant doing isn’t a sign of weakness.
It’s a sign that you trust yourself.
It’s a sign that you’ve learned how to listen.
You don’t have to struggle to make something matter.
There’s value in effort, yes.
But there’s also value in grace.
In letting things come without force.
In choosing peace over pressure.
A walk in the sun.
A conversation without a goal.
A slow cup of coffee.
These moments count even if no one else sees them.
Rest doesn’t mean you’ve stopped.
It means you’re choosing how to move.
Some of the wisest choices come from stillness.
Some of the strongest people walk gently.
And some of the most meaningful days are the quiet ones.
So the next time you feel calm, light, or unhurried don’t question it.
Welcome it.
You’re not falling behind.
You’re just finding a better way to move forward.
I kept choosing pain because it was all I knew.
Peace felt fake.
But peace isn’t weakness.
It’s just new. Stay with it.
I like to call it reflection. I've retired from teaching public school elementary music. I told myself I would do nothing for a year and then see where life takes me. I am reflecting daily. My morning coffee has never tasted so great. I am also selecting one item a day that I can part with: a CD, a cookbook, a pair of sandals etc. It feels good, it is good.
